Artist statement:
“Fun art for the serious mind is created by self-taught painter, Max Grover, who has been showing his chunky, colorful work in Northwest galleries since 1985. Max is represented by the Pulliam Deffenbaugh Gallery in Portland, Fountainhead Gallery in Seattle, Lucia Douglas Gallery in Bellingham and his own gallery in Port Townsend.

In addition to his gallery work, his imaginative paintings have been made into award-winning children’s books, puzzles, posters, and greeting cards. He is particularly proud of his partnerships with a variety of non-profit promotional and fundraising campaigns in Washington and Oregon.

Max, a natural teacher, has helped artists of all ages find their painting voices at Idyllwild School of the Arts, the Portland State University Haystack program and his own classes in Port Townsend and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

The studio is open during the remainder of the year Thursday through Monday, 11am-6pm.
