Demonstration:
“During the studio tour, visitors will learn how I make digital black and white prints. Using a series of in progress prints, I’ll demonstrate how I take an image from work print to finished display print. I am willing to discuss and explain any of my techniques and help visitors with their personal photography.”

Directions:
Take route 20 south from town to route 19 south. Go through the four way stop in Chimacum staying on route 20. Pass Egg and I Road. Turn right at Beaver Valley Store onto Larson Lake Road. Turn left at 3460 Larson Lake Road about .5 of a mile from the corner.

Artist Statement:

“As a marine photographer I want to capture the feeling of the perfect sailing moment, that brief instant when the sea, light and wind embrace a yacht or ship, creating a bold gesture or revealing a subtle and beautiful abstract pattern. In this series of black & white photographs, I have chosen to focus on schooners and sailing ships because they are the archetypes of the sailing world. They are perfect subjects for exploring the emotional and aesthetic appeal of sailing more deeply, because their complex silhouettes and multiple sails create a constantly changing palate of fascinating shapes and patterns. Beyond beautiful and inspirational, these vessels are also important because of their historic significance. They are surviving relics, living history, that represents the rich heritage and culture of our maritime traditions.”

The studio is open during the remainder of the year by appointment.
