Artist Statement:
From birth I have been a water loving artist. I have applied my talents to playing with water, whether it is with color, living by it, in it, or working with it. My challenge in life has been in applying enough color to make it stick.
Like most artists, my passion is life, or the expression of it, whether it is in the artistry of words, music, painting, sculpting, and/or by speaking. My style is fluid, colorful, often large scale and loose. My subjects are anything that can sit long enough for me to get the color to stay put. I love flowers, small landscapes, and anything to do with water, boats, mountains, rocks, and rivers.
My resume’ includes instruction at the Cooper Art Institute, Public Art program studies, sitting galleries, on boards, and Art Commission. I have also been involved with Coupeville, and Kirkland Arts Centers. I love finding and purchasing art. Currently, I am active on the Port Townsend Arts commission, and assist the huge volunteer efforts of the area at Northwind Arts Alliance, and Centrum.
Having the best of all my life could welcome, I still am more blessed by learning from incredible instructors like Catherine Gill and Stella Canfield. My creative art has been with hair artistry, and that sure takes a lot of water. I have joined the local arts community as both an artist and a volunteer supporting the arts. I love being here, near the water and breathing the salt air. At this point in my life, and like all who have lit here, I am excited by the opportunity to paint here with the other incredible, talented and creative artisans in Port Townsend area. My expertise here lies in marketing and supporting artists, however I can.
Recently, I have opened a working studio, at Sherring Lodge and Studio on McPherson Street, in Port Townsend. It is available for sharing by appointment. Call to see what’s in the works!”
