Silk Scarves
Demonstration:
Tour goers will be able to view the different stages of silk painting. I will display and explain my process of stretching, painting and setting silk dye.
Directions:
San Juan to 49th, just past fairgrounds. Turn left on Jackman, right on 45th, then left on Holcomb. 3944 Holcomb is next to the last house on the left.
Artist Statement:
My love of brilliant color and texture is apparent in my new line of hand-painted silk scarves. Bold color, large shapes and texture have been my passion as a painter and printmaker. Recently, I have discovered the magic of silk. I love the spontaneous and experimental aspect of this medium. The unpredictable result is usually exciting and dramatic.
I seek simplicity as well as complexity. Painting on silk allows me to immerse myself in the process, quieting my mind, and letting intuition be my guide. It gives me a feeling of true joy and freedom.
