Demonstration:
I will be mixing my own colors in sufficient quantity for future use, focusing on an Old Master’s palette principally of earth colors. I will have prepared the colors earlier from pigments obtained in Roussillon, in the south of France, and will have jars of it available for view (but will not mix the dry pigments on the studio tour for health/safety reasons). I have found an understanding of the process of obtaining pigments from their direct source and then using them fascinating and believe others may find this so, as well.
Directions:
At the corner of Water and Taylor Streets, enter the main entrance at 211 Taylor Street, and proceed upstairs (or by elevator) to the landing, turn left, and to suite 7.
Artist’s Statement
When I pay careful attention to the music of the colors and accept the transmission of my ideas and visions through the brushes, a painting emerges. The very occasional eye, or face, when it appears on one of my canvases, offers a visual entry for the viewer to experience that specific painting’s presentation of color and thought. I prefer the use of oil paints as they afford me the broadest range of possibilities in exploring color, light, and darkness in my preference for the use of glazes.
