Demonstration:
Artist will be in the studio and painting in progress will be on the easel, with demonstration of oils with palette knife technique.
Directions:
South on Hwy. 20 to Four Corners. Turn right at Discovery Bay Road and proceed one mile. Turn right at the entrance to Discovery Bay Heights (Olympic Blvd.) Go one block and turn right on Vancouver Lane. Studio is at 60 Vancouver Lane, second house on right, behind the garage. If driving north n Hwy. 20, turn left at Four Corners onto Discovery Road and follow directions as noted above.
Artist statement:
All my work is an opportunity to explore and expand the boundaries and effects of color – the relationship of color in a diverse and complementary palette, the effect of changing light, the physical mark and thickness of the paint, and the response produced in the viewer from color. All these explorations of color and often surprising results fascinate me and captivate my interest. Whether I am painting an Impressionistic garden, a plein air landscape, or the wildly expressive poppies, it’s an opportunity to further explore and direct the painting surface to a more imaginative abstract essence of color, movement, and contrast, while still maintaining an identifiable image or scene. The physical textural surface of my paintings stretches the boundaries of simple illusion to a resounding statement of pure color and textural temporal existence. The more color, the more life!
