Demonstration:

I will demonstrate techniques for making various styles of handmade paper. I will also talk about making imagery with paper pulp, creating stencils, and demonstrate using materials unique to papermaking. Demonstrations will be ongoing during the 2 days.

Directions to studio:

I am 3 ½ miles south from Port Hadlock on Oak Bay Road and 6 miles north from Port Ludlow. Turn into the driveway heading toward the water. Make an immediate left and come down the drive to the studio sign.
Park in the drive in front of the studio or on the grass along the drive before the studio. I will have a house-shaped Paper House Studio sign on the road above the mailboxes.

Artist statement:

My pulp-painted handmade papers are painted, stenciled, cut, and embellished with my own drawings. I paint on a wet handmade paper base with finely beaten and pigmented paper slurry. I explore sea creatures, fish skins, bones, tree bark, water movement and rock formations that I see up close at low tide and while walking. It is always amazing to see how images change and what patterns they can form when they are isolated from their surroundings.
Studio open by appointment during the remainder of the year.
