Artist Statement:

My career as an artist started in earnest after retiring from the Army as a translator of Vietnamese and then Russian. I settled back into the Bremerton area where there was some family owned property and attended Olympic College to study ceramics, sculpture and various painting mediums. I was hired as assistant in the ceramics department and later taught sculpture. I painted a number of public art murals in Bremerton and enjoyed the interaction with people that this type of public exposure allowed.
The question before me as an artist is how to best express the flow of life’s energies-the energy of love. I choose the medium that best suits the feeling I whish to capture. Painting in medium of water color, oil, pencil and acrylic; sculpture in clay, was, wood and stone. Most everything else that I do is expressed through clay – water fountains and rain spirit balls.

After meeting my wife, True in 2004, we started off on a whole new adventure together, as we continue to do today. We purchased property in Port Townsend and during the last few years we have designed and built “Heartspace”, a studio and home where we can enjoy pursuing the creative spark.
